香港文憑試經濟科 Economics (DSE Econ) 的筆試分為兩份卷：卷一 Paper 1 及卷二 Paper 2 。HKDSE 經濟卷一由多項選擇題 Multiple Choice (MC) 組成，佔全卷30%。考核共十個課題：

基本經濟概念 (Basic Economic Concepts)
廠商與生產 (Firms and Production)
市場與價格 (Market and Price)
競爭與市場結構 (Competition and Market Structure)
效率、公平和政府的角色 (Efficiency, Equity and the Role of Government)
經濟表現的量度 (Measurement of Economic Performance)
國民收入決定及價格水平 (National Income Determination and Price Level)
貨幣與銀行(Money and Banking)
宏觀經濟問題和政策 (Macroeconomic Problems and Policies)
國際貿易和金融 (International Trade and Finance)

在高中同學學習經濟科的旅途上，曾經有人留意到一個有趣的現象：在中四的時候，很多同學都會自製 F4 Econ Revision Notes, 這些中四經濟筆記有助鞏固所學知識，加深記憶。中四同學更會細心地將 Economics 溫習筆記製成 PDF 版本，上載到免費雲端，然後在空閒時間下載 download 免費筆記溫習。升上中五，同學的溫習模式多有轉變。F5 同學大多從書店購買 DSE 經濟參考書（中文版、英文版都有）、by topic 練習，或從網上購買朋友推介的 Econ Revision Notes, 較少同學會有時間自製經濟科重點筆記了。到了中六的時候，同學購買的溫習資源亦有所變化 —— 以模擬試卷、操練 past paper 為主。

其實經過中四、中五兩年的學習，大部分同學已經完成（或快將完成）宏觀經濟 Macroeconomics 和微觀經濟 Microeconomics 這兩個重點課題，開始學習 Econ Elective Part 了。文憑試 Economics Paper 2 佔全卷70%，設有甲、乙、丙三部分：甲部為短題目(short questions)；乙部為結構/文章式/資料回應試題 (Structured/essay-type/data response questions)；丙部為結構/文章式試題 (Structured/essay-type questions)，考生只須從兩個選修單元中選一個完成。選修單元一涵蓋兩個課題：壟斷定價 (Monopoly Pricing)和反競爭行為及競爭政策 (Anti-competitive Behaviours and Competition Policy)。選修單元二則涵蓋兩個課題：貿易理論之延伸 (Extension of Trade Theory)和經濟增長及發展 (Economic Growth and Development)。
